SnowMobile Information| SnowMobiles

I was wondering who makes the motor for the ski-doo snowmobile. or does more then one make their motors?

Actually, more than one makes the motors, for the Ski-Doo Snowmobiles. Lets start, in the early 1960’s… The first Ski-Doo Snowmobiles, had a single cylinder motor, probably, a Sacs, JLO, Kohler, Rotax. The single cylinder motor was used, at least till 1986. It was a strong motor, though it didn’t have much horsepower… About 14 hp, in the first ones, till about 1967. From then, the horsepower, in the single cylinder motors went up, some, and stayed there, till the single cylinder motor was not produced anymore. One other single cylinder that Ski-Doo had was their own make… A Bombarder. This motor, along with the Rotax, is still being made, today, only in a twin cylinder, and triple cylinder motor. The Kohler,Sacs, and the JLO engines also had their time for a twin cylinder, but, they were phased out, eventually.
